How to set up and use global job board field defaults
This article explains how to use the 'Field Defaults' feature within the job board settings page. This feature allows users with the necessary permissions to set default values for job board fields, which will then be pre-populated for all users when posting new adverts.
Accessing the field defaults area
From 'settings', select the 'board subscriptions' page.
For each configured job board or social portal, you will now see a new tab located at the end of the existing tabs. This tab is labelled 'Field defaults'.
Using the field defaults tab
- Upon clicking the 'Field defaults' tab for a specific job board, you will see a list of all the fields associated with that board. This includes both required and non-required fields.
- You can set your preferred default values for each field which will either be a dropdown menu, radio buttons, or a text input field.
- Choose the desired default value for that specific field. This selected value will be automatically pre-filled when a user creates a new job posting for this job board.
- Once you have configured the desired default values for the job board fields, scroll to the bottom of the page. Click the green button labelled 'Save field defaults' to save your preferences.
Important:
- Please note that job board defaults do not work with 'hidden' job board fields.
- Job board defaults are not currently available with SEEK 'advert type'.
How default values appear when posting an Advert
When selecting the job board for which default values have been configured, the fields on the posting form will be automatically pre-populated with the values saved in the 'Field defaults' tab.
While the fields will be pre-populated with the default values, users still have the flexibility to change these values.
Note:
When a user reposts, quick reposts, or clones an existing advert using the V3 post a new advert feature, the system will bypass the V3 job board default settings entirely. This is intentional to ensure that all the field selections made in the original posting are preserved in the new posting. The default settings will only apply when creating a brand new advert.
