Using the 'quick search' field
The quick search box can be found in the top right hand corner of the page when you are logged directly into your idibu account. It’s a handy tool to find candidates and access specific live vacancies quickly.
In this article, we will cover:
- How to search for candidates by name
- How to search for candidates by email
- How to search for candidates by phone or mobile
- How to grab and sift through a list of potential candidate matches
- How to search for active vacancies by title
- How to search for active vacancies by reference
- Common questions
To search for adverts by title or reference, open the advert tab and use the search field in the filter bar.
How to search for candidates by name
Start typing in the name of your candidate, and a list of potential matches will appear below. The more specific you are, the more accurate the list.
Where possible we’d recommend typing in at least part of the surname as this will speed up the search query and reduce the number of potential matches. See common questions for further ideas.
How to search for candidates by email
Start typing in the email address for your candidate and a list of potential matches will appear below. If you know the exact email address, you can copy it into the search field.
If you only have part of the email address, then the search tool is also able to search based on this as long as a minimum of 3 characters are entered.
How to search for candidates by phone or mobile
Start typing in the mobile or landline number for your candidate and a list of potential matches will appear below. If you do not know the exact number, you can enter part of it as long as you input a minimum of 3 digits.
How to grab and sift through a list of potential candidate matches
1. Having typed in your candidate search query, when the drop down list of matches appears, hit enter.
2. The candidates tab will open listing the candidates that appeared in the drop down list. You can now either pick the most likely matches from the list and enter their record, or enter the first record and use the next button to scroll through each one in sequence.
3. To clear the list, exit the candidate page by clicking on one of the other main tabs.
How to search for active vacancies by title
Start typing in the vacancy title, and a list of potential matches will appear below. The more specific you are, the more accurate the list.
How to search for active vacancies by reference
Type the vacancy reference into the search field, and the matching vacancy will appear in the drop down below.
You can type in partial reference details if you do not have the full reference to hand. As we also use this field to search for candidate phone numbers, keep in mind that if you only input numbers, you may also see potential candidate matches appear as well.
What should I do if I am unsure of the correct spelling of a candidate’s name?
If you are unsure of the spelling of the name, then try some variations. Idibu will return results for partial names entered, and can even search based on both a partial first and surname being entered. For example, if I wanted to search for ‘Sibyl Corseri’ but I was unsure of the spelling I could enter ‘si cor’ in the search field.
Sibyl is returned as the first match, but note that we will also return results below where there is a match for only one of the values entered e.g. Corey Barrott is returned based solely on the ‘cor’ part of our query.
Why did the list of candidates disappear?
The drop down list of potential matches is only displayed temporarily. If you leave the page, or click on a different tab in your browser, then the list will disappear. To redisplay the list, just retype your query.
Can I type in a combination of values, for example, part of a name and phone number?
While the search is likely to return the candidate you seek, it will also return all other potential matches for each value you entered. Depending on who you are looking for and the values entered, this may or may not be an advantageous approach.
